Ezekiel Elliott with 'a good chance' to play Week 9

by Anthony Cervino | Sun, Nov 8th 5:20am EST

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) has "a good chance" of playing in Week 9. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

While Elliott's playing status is up in the air, observing contradicting reports suggesting he is and is not expected play, the borderline elite running back will test his hamstring during pregame warmups before the team makes the final call on if he will be up or down. And although the Cowboys promoted a practice squad back late in the week, normally suggesting the player in question will sit, Rapoport believes Elliott is trending in the right direction after looking good at Saturday's walkthrough. Injury or not, I believe Elliott will handle a limited workload. He's been ineffective since Dak Prescott's season-ending injury and is going up against one of the league's toughest defenses against the run. With this season all but done, despite the wretched NFC East standings, it makes sense for Dallas to limit Elliott and preserve him for 2021. Elliott has never missed a game due to injury. For fantasy football, Tony Pollard is the play over Elliott in Week 9 and that is even a stretch in this matchup.
