Dalton Keene (knee) will miss entire 2021 season after being placed on IR

New England Patriots TE Dalton Keene (knee) is expected to miss the entire 2021 season after recently undergoing knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, placing him on Injured Reserve (IR), per Ian Rapoport. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Keene was virtually unused during his rookie season in New England, totaling five targets across six games. The Patriots signed two top-tier tight ends during free agency, acquiring Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith to bolster the weakest position on their offensive unit. In 2020, the Patriots ranked 31st in tight end target share percentage (7.9%) but will almost assuredly funnel the majority of targets to Henry and Smith in 2021. Expect Keene to make a full recovery and return in time for the 2022 season.
