Montrell Washington vying for early playing time in Broncos’ offense

According to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Legwold, Denver Broncos rookie WR Montrell Washington has impressed as a receiver early in training camp and could push for a role within the offense with WR Tim Patrick being lost for the season after tearing his ACL in practice earlier this week. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Washington, a fifth-round pick in April’s NFL Draft, is expected to be the Broncos’ kick and punt returner as a rookie, but early practice reports indicate that he is pushing for playing time as a receiver as well. According to Legwold, Washington has consistently won on deep routes and despite his small stature (5’10”, 170lbs), he has shown a knack for coming down with contested catches. Prior to this report out of Broncos camp, Washington has not been on fantasy managers’ radars as the 2022 season approaches. Even if Washington does earn playing time, he’s unlikely to warrant a roster spot in 2022 redraft leagues. However, he could be worth a speculative add in deeper dynasty leagues, and it appears the fantasy community is already privy to this thought, as he has went from an unknown player for most managers to being added in over 20k leagues on Sleeper in the past 24 hours.
