Nick Gates placed on PUP list

Nick Gates has been placed on the Reserve/PUP list, which will require him to miss at least the first four games of the regular season. (New York Giants)

Gates has come a long way since suffering a gruesome leg injury that required a multitude of surgeries to fix. It remains unclear when Gates will be able to return to the field, but his placement on the PUP list suggests that the Giants believe he could be back sooner rather than later. It's a truly surprising development, as members of the organization originally feared that Gates would never play football again.
