The versatile offensive lineman remains in the NFC East, after playing both guard and center for the Giants from 2019 to 2022, and center for the Commanders in 2023.
Free agent OL Nick Gates reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Washington Commanders.
Fantasy Impact
Gates broke his left fibula and tibia in a game against Washington in 2021 and battled his way back from seven surgeries. He should provide some versatility on the offensive line for the Commanders.
Nick Gates has been placed on the Reserve/PUP list, which will require him to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.

Gates has come a long way since suffering a gruesome leg injury that required a multitude of surgeries to fix. It remains unclear when Gates will be able to return to the field, but his placement on the PUP list suggests that the Giants believe he could be back sooner rather than later. It's a truly surprising development, as members of the organization originally feared that Gates would never play football again.
