Smith, like Fournette’s release, helps clear up cap space for the Buccaneers as they move into a post-Tom Brady phase of their franchise. The Buccaneers may address Smith’s absence in the draft or could explore moving OL Tristan Wirfs to replace Smith. Cutting Smith saves Tampa Bay nearly $10 million.
