Tyrunn Walker has a chance to win a starting job

by Jarrett Jennings | Fri, Sep 11th 1:39am EDT

With Caraun Reid ailing, Tyrunn Walker has a chance to win the starting defensive tackle job opposite Haloti Ngata, according to Kevin Meinke of MLive.com. (MLive.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Walker is probably best known for his pre-season tackle of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, giving him a concussion and possibly derailing his career. It was just an example of how much Walker has progressed since signing with the New Orleans Saints as an unrestricted free agent in 2012. He signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Lions this off-season, and now has the opportunity to prove his worth. Reid sustained a high ankle sprain against the Redskins, and will likely miss Week 1, which means Walker could record his first career start against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
