The Kansas City Chiefs and veteran running back Kareem Hunt have reached terms on a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million for Hunt to return for 2025. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
With Samaje Perine out, the Chiefs have finished putting together a three-man backfield with Hunt — the team's leading rusher in 2024 with 728 yards and seven TDs — Isiah Pacheco, and free agency acquisition Elijah Mitchell. Given Mitchell's proven efficiency (career 4.7 yards per attempt) and Pacheco's proven talent (1,179 total yards in 2023), Hunt may not have the same workhorse role he had in 2024, especially given his apparent lack of dynamism. However, his down-to-down reliability (fifth among all RBs in rushing success rate) makes him a perfect insurance policy who can also receive multiple touches per game.
