Jonnu Smith to be released by Steelers

Veteran tight end Jonnu Smith is being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers according to multiple reports. The move saves Pittsburgh $7 million and Smith becomes an unrestricted free agent. (Adam Schefter on X)

Smith played all 17 games in his only season with Pittsburgh and caught 38 passes for 222 yards and two scores. His 38 receptions marked his lowest since 2022 and his 222 receiving yards were his fewest since his rookie season in 2017. Smith has played nine seasons in the NFL and has totaled 345 receptions for 3,529 yards and 30 touchdowns.
