Can Thomas Duarte make transition to TE?

by Reginald James | Wed, May 18th 2:26pm EDT

The Dolphins drafted Thomas Duarte in the seventh round as a tight end, yet he spent his time at UCLA mainly as a slot receiver. At 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, it appears the Dolphins are looking for more than just someone to stay on the line and block. The idea would be to use Duarte as a flex tight end. “Obviously, I’m trying to work on my in-line blocking,” says Duarte. “Catching the football is what I’ve done in the past, just right now I’m trying to make it balanced, make myself versatile.” (Palm Beach Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Duarte finds himself on a roster behind Jordan Cameron, Dion Sims and Jake Stoneburner. He’s not a lock to make the team, but may find a spot on special teams if the team decides to keep two tight ends or he can’t replace Stoneburner.
