Thomas Duarte
TE -
2024 Outlook
Thomas Duarte has been promoted from the practice squad to replace Julius Thomas who the Dolphins placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Duarte is in his second season with the Dolphins. He joins Anthony Fasano and MarQueis Gray as the active tight ends on the roster.
Rookie TE Thomas Duarte was released as he attempted to transition to TE.
Fantasy Impact
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald believes the Dolphins will attempt to place him on the practice squad. The Dolphins still have a weakness at TE so do not be surprised if they claim or sign one the recently cut TEs.
The Dolphins drafted Thomas Duarte in the seventh round as a tight end, yet he spent his time at UCLA mainly as a slot receiver. At 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, it appears the Dolphins are looking for more than just someone to stay on the line and block. The idea would be to use Duarte as a flex tight end. “Obviously, I’m trying to work on my in-line blocking,†says Duarte. “Catching the football is what I’ve done in the past, just right now I’m trying to make it balanced, make myself versatile.â€
Fantasy Impact
Duarte finds himself on a roster behind Jordan Cameron, Dion Sims and Jake Stoneburner. He’s not a lock to make the team, but may find a spot on special teams if the team decides to keep two tight ends or he can’t replace Stoneburner.
