Saints TE Adam Trautman was not targeted in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Panthers.
Trautman led the Saints in targets in the season opener with six but completely blanked in all facets in Week 2. It won't get easier for Trautman or the Saints. They get the patriots in Week 3.
Saints TE Adam Trautman caught 3-of-6 targets for 18 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Packers.
Trautman led the Saints in targets, but only caught three of them for 18 yards. Saints tight ends led all pass-catchers with nine total targets while wide receivers totaled six. Trautman and Juwan Johnson could be the primary Jameis Winston targets in the new-look Saints offense.
Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill reports that tight end Adam Trautman "is believed to have escaped any major injury to his ankle/foot."
This is a positive update for the Saints and their starting tight end after he was carted to the locker room during Monday's game against the Jaguars. New Orleans needs all hands on deck from its pass-catchers this season after Drew Brees retired and Michael Thomas underwent surgery. Trautman, who caught just 15 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown as a rookie last year, is in line for an expanded role in 2021 as he takes over for Jared Cook, who signed with the Chargers. Trautman ranks 19th among tight ends in the latest expert consensus draft rankings. The Dayton product wasn't the only Saints tight end who suffered an injury on Monday; Nick Vannett is awaiting MRI results after injuring his knee.
Adam Trautman, who was carted off the field Monday night, is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his foot Tuesday.
The initial X-Rays Trautman underwent on Monday came back as negative, but he still was experiencing mild pain. This will be a situation to monitor on Tuesday. His usage in the Saints first two preseason games was a little concerning as he was being used as more of a blocker than a reciever. There should be a further update on his status soon.
New Orleans Saints TE Adam Trautman (foot) suffered a foot/ankle injury during the first quarter of Monday's preseason Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, per Adam Schefter.
Trautman is set to finally get first-team reps with former tight end Jared Cook now playing for the Los Angeles Chargers. Sixth-year tight end Nick Vannett is next in line and will see increased reps while Trautman undergoes further medical analysis. Continue to monitor Trautman's status over the next 24-48 hours.
