The New York Jets and CB Ahmad Gardner agreed to a four-year deal, fully guaranteed for $38.7 million. The deal includes a $25.3 million signing bonus.
Gardner was drafted fourth overall in April’s NFL Draft, after playing three season at the University of Cincinnati, where he never allowed a touchdown. The rookie will look to solidify a shaky Jets secondary that allowed the second highest quarterback rating and third-most passing yards in the league during the 2021 season.

Both the Jets and Giants have a heavy interest in Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. Each team has dual top-10 draft picks heading into the draft. Gardner is widely considered the best CB in the draft. The former Cincinnati Bearcat has been noted as having terrific size, great instincts, and showed his speed by running a 4.41 in the 40 at the combine. Across his three seasons in college, he posted nine interceptions and wasn’t credited with giving up a single touchdown in coverage.
Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner met privately with Texans coach Lovie Smith after his Pro Day workout.
The cornerback from Cincinnati has a NextGen stats rating of 93 which registers as elite. The Texans hold the third and 13th overall picks in the first round.
