Ainias Smith
WR - Carolina Panthers
Week 14 Outlook
Availability
The Panthers have signed WR Ainias Smith to their practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
Smith was cut from the Eagles roster ahead of the 53-man deadline. He will provide depth at wide receiver after registering 41 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions in his rookie season.
The Eagles released WR Ainias Smith.
Fantasy Impact
Smith was a fifth round pick of the Eagles last year. He should get another opportunity.
Ainias Smith caught four of six targets for 35 yards and a touchdown and also ran once for four yards in the Eagles' 20-13 win over the Giants on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
The rookie out of Texas A&M had done next to nothing in his rookie year, buried on the depth chart of the Eagles talented roster. It was a nice showing in Week 18 but he's their WR4 at best and even then he's rotating in that position with Johnny Wilson. His limited upside puts him off the map in fantasy leagues, even in dynasty.
Philadelphia rookie WR/returner Ainias Smith is set to make his NFL debut in Week 8 as he returns from an ankle injury that kept him on the injured reserve.
Fantasy Impact
The Texas A&M product is best known for his after-the-catch ability and could immediately translate as a designed-touch guy and return specialist. The Eagles have been looking for more receiver help aside from WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and the rookie Smith could potentially bring a new energy Philadelphia needs. His role and usage in a solid offense should be monitored in dynasty and deeper re-draft leagues.
Eagles WR Ainias Smith will be placed on IR due to an ankle injury that will keep him out 4-to-6 weeks.
Fantasy Impact
Smith underwent an MRI that revealed the severity on the ankle injury. He will be eligible to be designated for return during the season.
