Alex McGough signs with Packers

The Green Bay Packers signed QB Alex McGough, the 2023 USFL MVP, after hosting the 27-year-old for a workout.

Fantasy Impact

McGough played at FIU from 2014-2017 before being drafted in the seventh round in 2018. After short stints in Seattle, Jacksonville and Houston where he never played a snap, McGough played in the USFL where he won back-to-back championships and the 2023 MVP. With QB Jordan Love slated to be the Packers' starter, McGough could battle with Sean Clifford and Danny Etling for the role as backup QB.

Alex McGough gets let go by the Jaguars

League sources confirm that Jaguars have released QB Alex McGough according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN Nation.

Fantasy Impact

This is not a big surprise as McGough did not make a big impression in the preseason and was outplayed by Gardner Minshew who will be the backup to Nick Foles. Look for McGough to get signed to the practice squad.

Alex McGough scores a touchdown in preseason loss

Alex McGough was 2-for-9 for 10 yards and rushed two times for 21 yards and scored a touchdown as the Jaguars lost to the Eagles by a 24-10 score.

Fantasy Impact

McGough was drafted in the seventh round draft last season by the Seahawks and ended up spending the year on the practice squad. He could end up in a similar situation this year as Gardner Minshew has the inside track for the backup QB job behind Nick Foles.

Fantasy Impact

McGough was drafted by the Seahawks in the seventh round of last year's draft and spent the season on the team's practice squad. He is now looking to make the Jaguars roster but will need a better performance than he had on Thursday in the preseason.
