Andrew Wingard re-signs with Jaguars

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars are bringing back S Andrew Wingard, signing him to a three-year deal.

Fantasy Impact

Wingard saw his defensive snaps drop from 95% to 19% between 2021 and 2022, but his special teams usage doubled as he took a backup role to S Andre Cisco. Wingard has 205 tackles and four interceptions in four seasons as an undrafted free agent and now gets a multi-year contract.

Andrew Wingard placed on Injured Reserve

The Jaguars placed safety Andrew Wingard on IR Monday. Wingard picked up a core muscle injury early in Jacksonville's game on Sunday against the Texans.

Fantasy Impact

With Jarrod Wilson returning from the IR before the game, Wingard was already looking at a decrease in playing time. There is no reason to roster Wingard at this point.

Andrew Wingard looks for bigger role after Harrison trade

Jacksonville traded Ronnie Harrison to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, leaving Wingard and Jarrod Wilson as the only safeties on the Jaguars roster from last season.

Fantasy Impact

Jarrod Wilson was going to start at safety for Jacksonville with or without Harrison. Wingard seems like the likely replacement for Harrison to start the season. The Jaguars like Wingard, who forced a fumble, recorded a sack, and had 30 total tackles last season. Josh Jones, J.R. Reed, and Daniel Thomas are the other options for Jacksonville to replace Harrison.

Andrew Wingard tallies his first sack in his first start

Andrew Wingard logged six solo tackles, one assisted tackle, one TFL, one sack, one pass defended, and one forced fumble in 25-11 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Wingard replaced starting safety Ronnie Harrison and did an admirable job, stripping Jameis Winston of the ball on his first-ever NFL sack. The rookie out of Wyoming showed enough to remain in the starting lineup should Harrison continue to miss time, but he's probably best left on the waiver wire save for the most desperate of fantasy owners.
