Anthony McFarland Jr.
RB - PIT
Week 13 Outlook
Anthony McFarland Jr. hauled in each of his two targets for 11 yards in the Steelers' 30-7 Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.
McFarland Jr. did not see significant involvement on offense for the Steelers Sunday, failing to register a carry while finishing last in targets as well. The running back is currently the third option out of the backfield behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren and will likely need an injury to one of the two to offer any sort of fantasy value in most formats.
Anthony McFarland Jr. carried the ball six times for 30 yards and added 11 yards on two catches in a 24-17 win over the Colts in Week 12.
McFarland has spent most of the season on the practice squad but was active with rookie Jaylen Warren (hamstring) inactive. He saw some extra touches in Week 12 after Najee Haris left shortly before halftime with an abdominal injury and did not return. McFarland is an explosive runner but the Steelers have been hesitant to feature him over his three-year career. He could be active again in Week 13 against the Falcons if Harris is unable to suit up.
Anthony McFarland Jr. carried the ball seven times for 56 yards in a 32-25 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.
McFarland led Pittsburgh in rushes and yardage in the win. The third-year running back is an explosive player but he is unlikely to see much playing time behind Najee Harris.
The Steelers activated Anthony McFarland Jr., who had been on IR with a knee injury, to the 53-man roster on Wednesday.
This was the end of McFarland's 21-day practice window as he returned from IR, so the Steelers had to activate him or he would have been done for the season. McFarland has no fantasy value right now, as Najee Harris should continue to dominate the touches in the Pittsburgh backfield, so don't bother adding him in fantasy leagues.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFardland Jr. has been designated to return from the injured reserve list.
McFarland has been sidelined all season with the knee injury but is now cleared to return to practice. The team now has 21 days to activate him or place him on season-ending injured reserve. With Najee Harris operating as a workhorse in the truest sense of the word, it is hard to imagine McFarland emerging with any fantasy value any time soon.
