Anthony McFarland Jr.
RB -
Week 6 Outlook
Availability
The Miami Dolphins are signing RB Anthony McFarland Jr., who played in the UFL earlier this year.
Fantasy Impact
McFarland, best known for his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, had 396 scrimmage yards and four total touchdowns for the San Antonio Brahmas in 2024. He spent four years in Pittsburgh and had 233 scrimmage yards in 17 games with no starts. He will add depth for the Dolphins who are now without Chris Brooks (concussion) and Salvon Ahmed (released), though he has an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster with three backs ahead of him (Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright).
Steelers RB Anthony McFarland Jr. is officially inactive for a Week 14 matchup with the Patriots.
Fantasy Impact
McFarland will remain a healthy scratch for the Steelers. The 24-year-old has multiple running backs ahead of him on the depth chart and can be safely left on the waiver wire.
Steelers RB Anthony McFarland Jr. is officially inactive for a Week 13 matchup with the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
McFarland did not appear on this week’s injury report and will remain a healthy scratch for the Steelers. Fantasy managers can leave the 24-year-old on the waiver wire.
Anthony McFarland Jr. hauled in each of his two targets for 11 yards in the Steelers' 30-7 Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
McFarland Jr. did not see significant involvement on offense for the Steelers Sunday, failing to register a carry while finishing last in targets as well. The running back is currently the third option out of the backfield behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren and will likely need an injury to one of the two to offer any sort of fantasy value in most formats.
Anthony McFarland Jr. carried the ball six times for 30 yards and added 11 yards on two catches in a 24-17 win over the Colts in Week 12.
Fantasy Impact
McFarland has spent most of the season on the practice squad but was active with rookie Jaylen Warren (hamstring) inactive. He saw some extra touches in Week 12 after Najee Haris left shortly before halftime with an abdominal injury and did not return. McFarland is an explosive runner but the Steelers have been hesitant to feature him over his three-year career. He could be active again in Week 13 against the Falcons if Harris is unable to suit up.
