It was a field day for Brock Purdy and the 49ers offense with four passing touchdowns and a rushing score. The Cardinals defense remains off the fantasy radar.
The Arizona Cardinals D/ST was completely outmatched against the Seattle Seahawks offensive attack, losing 34-3 in the process. The unit managed just one sack and a fumble recovery.
Fantasy Impact
After a half-decent showing against the Chargers, the Cardinals defense was put back in their place by the much better run Seattle offense. Arizona’s lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball screams that they should be well off of streaming radar, and that was evident on Sunday.
The Cardinals D/ST limited the Chargers to just 14 points and 268 yards of total offense in Sunday's 26-14 win.
Fantasy Impact
The Cardinals pulled off an impressive road victory in Week 1, and their defense played a huge part in it. The unti sacked Chargers QB Justin Herbert three times and forced a pair of turnovers. Arizona will certainly gain some extra attention after this performance, but will have its hands full with the defending Super Bowl champs in Week 2. The Seahawks will be without starting quarterback Sam Darnold (glute), though.
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as their next head coach.
Fantasy Impact
The Rams will be left searching for a new offensive coordinator again as the Cardinals work on finalizing a deal with LaFleur. The Rams had one of the best offenses in the NFL in 2025 and quarterback Matthew Stafford was an MVP candidate. Additionally, LaFleur is familiar with the division.
Jonathan Gannon has been fired by the Arizona Cardinals after three seasons with the team.
Fantasy Impact
Gannon failed to do much with the Cardinals in his three seasons, especially on the defensive side. As someone who was seen as seen as a good defensive hire thanks to his work as Philadelphia’s DC, Gannon’s defense became one of the worst units in the league in 2025, minus the play of Buddy Baker. He will look to find a home elsewhere and the Cardinals will begin their head coach search alongside a handful of other teams.
