Atlanta Falcons
DST - Atlanta Falcons
This Week Outlook
Availability
The Falcons D/ST allowed 17 points on 340 total yards with one interception, one fumble recovery and four sacks in Week 18 against the Saints.
Fantasy Impact
The Falcons D/ST took a huge step forward this year after investing in the unit last offseason. They should remain on the fantasy radar heading into next season.
The Atlanta Falcons have fired HC Raheem Morris.
Fantasy Impact
Two years into his tenure, the Falcons are moving on from the defensive-minded head coach. While the defense took a massive step forward this season and at times was a very capable unit, the offense struggled, and the team ended up failing to take advantage of a wide-open NFC South. In large part, that credit is due to the lack of development in Michael Penix Jr. The team has pieces it can use to come back and be a sleeper next season, but the search for the playoffs continues.
The Falcons defense surrendered 363 yards of total offense, coming up with three sacks and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, in Monday's 27-24 win over the Rams.
Fantasy Impact
The Rams picked up one of their touchdowns on a blocked field-goal attempt Monday night, so the Falcons defense allowed only 17 points. This was an incredibly impressive performance for the Atlanta unit, as Rams QB Matthew Stafford came into this contest having thrown just five picks and taken only 19 sacks (1.3 per game) over 15 games. The Falcons defense has been making impact plays all season long, ranking second in the league in sacks (53) and eighth in takeaways (21) headed into the season finale against the Saints.
The Falcons' D/ST logged two sacks and one interception while allowing 19 points in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Atlanta's defense had a pretty good game on Sunday. They weren't able to make many splash plays against the Cardinals, but they did hold them to just 19 points, which helped them to secure a win on the road. They should not be started in a tough matchup against the Rams next week, however.
The Falcons' D/ST logged five sacks and one interception while allowing 28 points in Thursday night's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
Atlanta's defense had an up-and-down night on Thursday. They allowed Tampa Bay to score 28 points, which was less than ideal, but they were also able to make some big plays to help turn the tide of the game. They have a nice matchup against the Cardinals coming up next week, but expectations for their fantasy value should be tempered at this point.
