Brandon Boykin's career in jeopardy?

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, free agent CB Brandon Boykin's (hip) is battling a hip injury "that might end his career."

Fantasy Impact

Brandon Boykin played four seasons in the NFL before his career came into question. The free agent corner signed with the Panthers this offseason only to be released shortly after being acquired. Boykin is a solid NFL corner who has tallied two sacks, eight interceptions and a touchdown in his short tenure in the league.

Panthers release CB Brandon Boykin

The Carolina Panthers have released cornerback Brandon Boykin, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer.

Fantasy Impact

The Panthers just signed Boykin in late March, so the release is surprising. After three quality seasons as a slot cornerback for the Eagles, Boykins got limited playing time with the Steelers last season before signing with the Panthers this offseason. Why Boykin - a talented cornerback - can't seem to stick on a roster is a mystery, but any team willing to take a chance on him should be getting good value.

Panthers sign Brandon Boykin to one-year deal

The Carolina Panthers and CB Brandon Boykin agreed to terms on a one-year deal on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Brandon Boykin signed with the Carolina Panthers on Monday. Boykin played one season in Pittsburgh prior to agreeing to terms in Carolina. The four-year pro tallied 144 total tackles, eight interceptions and broke up 36 passes in his career. Boykin will provide the Panthers with insurance in case Josh Norman decides to hold-out for a long term deal.

Brandon Boykin enjoying expanded role with Steelers DST

Boykin is settling in well in Pittsburgh, claiming to be happy in his position despite “jumping on a moving train” at his new team. Boykin saw snaps at both corner and the slot in Pittsburgh’s preseason loss to Minnesota.

Fantasy Impact

Boykin rushed several times from the slot, and a developed role in the blitz could provide added value through the season. However, after being restricted to the slot in Philadelphia, it is the move back outside to CB that is the best sign for his fantasy value. An expanded role in a rebuilding Steelers’ DST will help Boykin's chances of replicating his 2013 form of 6 INTs and 1 TD

Brandon Boykin traded to the Steelers for 2016 Pick

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded Brandon Boykin to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 5th round draft choice in 2016.

Fantasy Impact

Boykin is arguable one of the better slot cornerbacks in the NFL and has never missed a game in his 3 year career with the Eagles. Boykin's best season came in 2013 when he collected 6 interceptions.
