Brandon LaFell INACTIVE for Monday Night Football

Recently signed wide receiver Brandon LaFell is inactive for Oakland's matchup with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact

LaFell just signed with the Raiders a week ago and likely needs some time to get acclimated with their offensive playbook, so his status is not surprising. Look for him to learn the playbook in pieces over the coming weeks and be gradually worked in the game plan. Until he is activated and plays significant snaps, he is not someone worth targeting in fantasy.

Brandon LaFell signs one-year deal with Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have beefed up their receiving corps by signing eight-year veteran wideout Brandon LaFell to a one-year deal. LaFell was released by the Bengals this summer after catching 116 balls for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons in Cincinnati.

Fantasy Impact

LaFell has been a reliable veteran wideout and should quickly surpass Seth Roberts as Oakland's No. 3 option behind Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson. LaFell has the potential to post solid but unspectacular fantasy production.

Brandon LaFell released by Bengals

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo is reporting the Cincinnati Bengals have released WR Brandon LaFell on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

Per LaFell's agent Jonathan Feinsod, the veteran wideout's camp has been "lobbying for his released for some time now and appreciate the Bengals granting our request." In two years with the team, LaFell has been a quality No. 2 receiver, at best, playing his best ball in lieu of A.J. Green back in 2016 when the former Pro Bowler missed six games. However, with a healthy Green last season, LaFell's numbers regressed. And while John Ross barely saw the field in 2017, the Bengals did spend a top 10 draft pick on him and need to feature him opposite Green. LaFell's release will also open up opportunities for wideouts that include Cody Core, Tyler Boyd, and Alex Erickson. For LaFell, it wouldn't surprise me if he landed back in New England, where he posted a career-best -- by far -- 74-953-7 stat line in 2014.

Brandon LaFell totals 35 yards Sunday

Brandon LaFell held in check Sunday

Brandon LaFell had four receptions on six targets for eight yards in Sunday's 26-17 win over Detroit.

Fantasy Impact

LaFell is getting seven or eight targets each game which is enough opportunity to warrant consideration for those in deeper formats. His performances this year have been largely lackluster, for different reasons unrelated to his personal level of talent. The Bengals face the Ravens next week.
