Brett Rypien concludes woeful game for Broncos on Christmas

Brett Rypien entered in relief of Russell Wilson on Sunday, completing 4-of-8 passes for 45 yards and one interception as the the Broncos fell to the Rams 51-14.

Fantasy Impact

In a not so merry finale for the team on Sunday, Rypien promptly threw a fourth quarter pick-six to put the final touch on Denver's Christmas disaster. Russell Wilson was an atrocity on Sunday, putting the Broncos in a 44-14 hole prior to his merciful benching. Denver is set to take on Kansas City in Week 17 and it would not be in the team's worst interests to possibly give Rypien the start- the bar is so painfully low that he may actually be the Broncos' top option overall.

Brett Rypien game manages Broncos to win in spot start

Brett Rypien completed 21-of-29 passes for 197 yards, one touchdown, and one interception as Denver held off the Cardinals for a 24-15 victory in Week 15.

Fantasy Impact

For the majority of the afternoon Rypien took what the Arizona defense gave him, and he did enough to send the Broncos home with a rare win. His longest pass of the day went for just 19 yards in the outing, and the 3rd-year slinger out of Boise State absorbed a hefty seven sacks overall. Rypien will likely head back to the bench if Russell Wilson is good to go next week, though the former may actually be the better option at this point.

Brett Rypien predictably flounders against Jets

Brett Rypien finished 24-for-46 for 225 yards passing and an interception in Denver's Week 7 16-9 loss to the Jets.

Fantasy Impact

Rypien played like a surefire backup on Sunday, and struggled to make anything happen versus an impressive Jets' defense. Rypien averaged a measly 4.9 YPA and was seen missing receivers all over the field throughout the game. Predictably, no skill position player other than Jerry Jeudy was able to get anything going during this one. The Broncos now sit at 2-5 on the season and will likely be without Russell Wilson for at least another week. They head to London to face the Jaguars in Week 8.

Brett Rypien has an up-and-down evening in Week 4

Brett Rypien completed 19-of-31 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in the Broncos' 37-28 Week 4 win over the Jets.

Fantasy Impact

The good news for Rypien is that Denver got the win, though it's fair to question how this would've turned out against better competition. The highlight of the night was a 48-yard TD to Jerry Jeudy, in which the rookie receiver jumped over his defender to make a grab at the goal-line. It was a pretty play, but it was almost as if Rypien was targeting the cornerback on the throw. The Patriots present a wildly tougher Week 5 matchup.

Brett Rypien expected to get the start on Thursday against the Jets

The expectation is that Brett Rypien will be the starting QB on Thursday vs. the Jets.

Fantasy Impact

Brett Rypien completed 8-of-9 passes for 53 yards and one interception in the Broncos' Week 3 loss to the Buccaneers. He will be the Broncos third starting QB of the season. If you can, it's best to stay away from Rypien and all Denver's playmakers until we see what he can do.
