Brett Rypien
QB - Chicago Bears
2024 Outlook
The Bears agreed to a one-year deal with Brett Rypien.
Fantasy Impact
It remains to be seen what will happen with Justin Fields. In the meantime, Rypien figures to serve as the backup for the Bears next season.
The New York Jets are signing QB Brett Rypien to their roster off of the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
Rypien, who started a game for the Los Angeles Rams earlier this season, had spent his last month on the Seahawks' practice squad. In his start this season against Green Bay, he completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards and an interception. He has four career starts, including three with the Denver Broncos where he spent his first three seasons. The Jets also released the recently benched QB Tim Boyle, making Rypien one of their three QBs alongside Trevor Siemian and Zach Wilson, who was demoted to third-string.
The Rams have released QB Brett Rypien.
Fantasy Impact
Rypien was released Tuesday after the Rams signed free agent QB Carson Wentz. Rypien struggled in his lone start for the injured Matthew Stafford, prompting the Rams to go in another direction. The 27-year-old could be a candidate to rejoin the team on the practice squad.
Brett Rypien completed 13-of-28 passes for 130 yards and one interception in the Rams' 20-3 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Starting in the place of injured starter Matthew Stafford, Rypien had a rough go against the Green Bay defense, failing to lead the offense to anything except a lone field goal. He is not worth picking up in fantasy even if Stafford is out past the Rams' bye week.
Rams QB Brett Rypien will start for the Rams against Green Bay Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Rypien will get the start as Matthew Stafford will require extra time to recover from a UCL sprain. Fantasy managers should be cautious with Rypien as he has struggled over the nine games he has played in his career.
