QB - FA
QB Charlie Whitehurst completed his only pass attempt for 12 yards against the Rams. He has completed all six of his pass attempts through two games for 51 yards. He is third on the depth chart behind Zach Mettenberger and ahead of Alex Tanney.
Whitehurst has played as expected as a solid third string QB competing against third team defenses. Despite his solid play he is still feeling some heat from the fourth string QB Alex Tanney who has been equally impressive late in preseason games. Charlie isn't on anyone's fantasy radar. He probably wouldn't offer any fantasy value even in the event of Mettenberger being traded or Marcus Maritoa being taken off the field. Right now he is simply battling Tanney for third on the depth chart.
Charlie Whitehurst will start for the Titans for the second game in a row this Sunday against the Colts.
Unless one's league has a "loser-gets-their-money-back" rule and one is trying to tank your consolation playoff game without making it look extremely obvious, do not start Whitehurst.
Charlie Whitehurst completed 24 of 35 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee's Thursday night loss to the Jaguars. He also added 12 more yards on 3 carries.
Whitehurst started out hot, going 6-6 for 71 yards on the first drive, which finished with an 8 yard touchdown strike to Leon Washington. Overall, this is about the high water mark one can expect from Whitehurst; in fact, it was his all-time best performance, statistically. Whitehurst is likely to remain under center for the rest of the Titans' season.
Charlie Whitehurst will, in all likelihood, start at quarterback for the Titans in their Thursday night matchup against the Jaguars.
Zach Mettenberger is officially listed as doubtful on Tennessee's injury report, but not one person expects him to play. You probably don't need to be told this, but just in case: do not start Whitehurst unless you have absolutely no other options.
Titans QB Charlie Whitehurst finished with 160 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 19-17 loss against the Redskins. Whitehurst has a 1-2 record while starting in place of the injured QB Jake Locker. He has 764 passing yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on the season.
Whitehurst has been a steady player for the Titans while filling in for Locker, but he simply hasn’t displayed the ability to produce enough to be a fantasy option. Whitehurst may soon be returning to his “Clipboard Jesus†status with Locker close to returning to the field. Even if Locker should miss more time later in the season it’s possible Ken Whisenhunt could turn to rookie QB Zach Mettenberger. In other words, you can look elsewhere if you were considering Whitehurst as a fantasy option.
