LB - MIN
The Minnesota Vikings have selected LB Chazz Surratt with the No. 78 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Surratt is an undersized, speedy linebacker who converted from quarterback to lead UNC's defensive unit for two seasons. Many scouts like his ability to track his assignment across the field while delivering big hits to ball carriers. Vikings' head coach Mike Zimmer is definitely looking to revamp one of the worst defensive units from 2020, focusing on the linebacker position to secure the middle of the field in his blitz-heavy defensive schemes. There is quite a bit of untapped potential in Surratt, who is still learning the linebacker position and can be coached up under one of the best defensive minds in Mike Zimmer. Surratt will likely back up former All-Pro linebackers Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr but could be used as a hybrid safety or edge rusher as he grows into a role in Minnesota.
