Free-agent WR Chester Rogers is signing a one-year deal with the Houston Texans.
Rogers spent all last year with the Titans and did not contribute to the team very much with only 30 receptions, 301 yards, and one touchdown. Expect much of the same this year given the Texans’ crowded WR room with players such as Nico Collins, Chris Conley, Phillip Dorsett, Chris Moore, and Chad Beebe. Rogers isn't even guaranteed to make the regular season roster and if he does, he would be a waiver wire pickup at best.
Chester Rogers reportedly visited with the Houston Texans on Monday Night.
The Texans are desperately searching for a slot receiver after the news that rookie John Metchie was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Rogers spent most of his time in Tennessee last season playing the slot and may potentially join a Houston roster that's very thin at the position. He could find his way onto the field if signed with a strong camp over the likes of Chris Moore and Phillip Dorsett.
Chester Rogers caught one of two targets for three yards on Saturday afternoon as the Titans lost to the Bengals by a 19-16 score in divisional round playoffs.
Rogers had a quiet day in the loss. The veteran receiver managed only 30 receptions for 301 yards and one touchdown across 17 games on the season. He'll become a free agent in the offseason and should find a similar role on a team.
Chester Rogers caught both his targets for 13 yards on Sunday afternoon as the Titans defeated the Dolphins by a 34-3 score in Week 17 action.
With Julio Jones out it looked like Rogers would get a bump in passes thrown his way but with the team only throwing the ball 19 times, there were not many opportunities for the veteran wide receiver. Rogers can be left on the waiver wire in most fantasy formats.
Chester Rogers caught all four of his targets for 30 yards on Sunday afternoon as the Titans lost to the Steelers by a 19-13 score in Week 15 action.
Rogers got a chance to see more action on the field with fellow receiver Julio Jones leaving the game with an injury. The 27-year-old has had a quiet season with just 25 catches on 38 targets over 13 games and is only worth rostering in deeper fantasy formats.
