Week 6 Outlook
Availability
After reportedly talking the Jets and Seahawks Canty decided to return to Baltimore on a 2-year deal reportedly worth $4.65 million ($1.5 million signing bonus.)
Fantasy Impact
Chris Canty brings depth and leadership that can help younger defensive linemen on the roster grow.
In order to save $2.66 million in salary-cap space the Ravens have cut Chris Canty. This move does not come as a shock due to Canty's cap-hit and on-field performance, both of which were a negative for the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
Canty may possibly find work this season. For the Ravens, they have 4 players fighting for his former position. This will lead to great competition and depth. Look out for Brent Urban, Lawrence Guy, DeAngelo Tyson and Kapron Lewis-Moore this season to replace Canty.
Baltimore Ravens are facing another dilemma: whether or not to release defensive end Chris Canty. Last season, he suffered with a bad staph infection in his wrist and had to have surgery to clean it up, causing him to miss a few weeks. He also had been dealing with recurring ankle injuries. According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Canty's 63 tackles ranked 12th for the past two seasons with the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
Canty, 32, is reported to be considering retirement. According to Canty, he does not want to play unless he can perform at a high level. Hensley states the Ravens are "expected to cut him" since they can find cheaper, younger players that can perform just as good.
