RB - JAC
Week 17 Outlook
The Florida Times-Union believes the Jaguars will move on from RB Chris Thompson.
Thompson landed on IR with a back injury midway through the season. An unrestricted free agent this offseason, it makes little sense for Jacksonville to bring him back.
The Jaguars placed RB Chris Thompson (back) on injured reserve Monday.
Thompson exited Week 10's loss to the Packers early with a back injury. He will be placed on injured reserve and miss at least the next three contests. Devine Ozigbo or Dare Ogunbawale could handle third-down duties and passing situations while Thompson is sidelined. Neither running back is worth rostering as the Jaguars' backfield belongs to James Robinson.
Chris Thompson was cleared from concussion evaluation earlier in Sunday's loss but ended up leaving and did return against the Packers due to a back injury.
Thompson did not see any passes or rushes before leaving with his injury issues. There have not been any updates on the veteran running back and fantasy owners should keep an eye on updates regarding Thompson.
Chris Thompson rushed one time for three yards and caught all four of his targets for 35 additional yards on Sunday as the Jaguars lost to the Texans by a 27-25 score in Week 9 action.
The Jaguars had activated Thompson (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday as he missed one game. The veteran running back is mainly used in passing situations and is only worth owning in deeper PPR fantasy leagues.
Jaguars RB Chris Thompson has been activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Thompson's return limits the ceiling of James Robinson, though Robinson is still a clear-cut RB1 in fantasy. Jacksonville is on a bye this week before taking on the Texans next Sunday.
