The Vikings signed TE Colin Thompson to a one-year contract Monday.

Thompson spent the last three season with Carolina, but spent the 2022 season on the practice squad. The 29-year-old will provide depth at tight end, but will not carry any fantasy value.

According to his agent, TE Colin Thompson, most recently of the XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers, has signed a deal with the Carolina Panthers.

Thompson played his college ball at Temple, where new Panthers Head Coach Matt Rhule coached collegiately between 2006 and 2016. Thompson becomes the fifth Temple Owl that Rhule has signed in his short regime so far in Carolina. He only caught one pass for 13 yards while playing in the XFL, but he’s got chemistry with the Panthers head coach from their time together at Temple, so maybe Thompson can make some noise in Carolina.
