The Chicago Bears have claimed former Cleveland Browns QB Connor Shaw off of waivers on Friday.

Connor Shaw was claimed off of waivers by the Bears on Friday where he will be reunited with his former quarterback's coach Dowell Loggains, who is now the offensive coordinator in Chicago. Shaw was waived by the Browns earlier in the week.

Connor Shaw appeared in one game with the Browns back in 2014 where he accounted for two turnovers. Shaw was the fifth quarterback on Cleveland's depth chart prior to his release behind Robert Griffin, Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Cody Kessler.

According to the Cleveland Browns website, quarterback Connor Shaw will have surgery to repair a thumb injury he sustained in the team's preseason game against the Washington Redskins.

Shaw has at times looked better than fellow Browns QB Johnny Manziel, but currently resides as the fourth-string QB. This injury makes it that much more difficult for him to climb the ladder onto the final 53-man roster.

Shaw was unarguably better than Manziel as a rookie last year and has performed admirably in training camp thus far, but the coaching staff doesn't seem enamored with him. If he is cut, you can be sure other teams will kick the tires on the sophomore QB.

Undrafted rookie Connor Shaw had an up and down day against Baltimore. He completed 14 of 28 passes for 177 yards and an interception. He also rushed seven times for nine yards.

Shaw looked as one would expect an undrafted rookie making his first start to look. He made a few positive plays but threw several errant passes to open receivers. His best play of the day came when he scrambled to his right to avoid the pass rush and hit Taylor Gabriel with a 49-yard reception. It came really close to being Shaw's first career touchdown pass as Gabriel was brought down on the two yard line.
