The Eagles are expected to play Cooper DeJean at safety in their base defense.

DeJean played cornerback in the team’s base defense last season. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told reporters that the plan is for him to be a safety in that alignment this season.

DeJean is potentially working into more of a versatile role after primarily playing nickelback as a rookie last season. He could take on a bigger overall role in the Eagles secondary heading into his second season coming off a strong rookie campaign.

Cooper DeJean is in padded pants and cleats warming up to perhaps make his practice debut on Tuesday.

DeJean has yet to practice in training camp with the Eagles. He figures to remain an immediate contributor in the secondary for the Eagles after being drafted in round two back in April.
