Week 3 Outlook
First-round draft choice out of Ohio State CB Damon Arnette has officially signed his four-year rookie contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Arnette was a four-year player for the Buckeyes, really excelling his sophomore - senior seasons. He had 21 pass breakups and four interceptions between 2017 and 2019. Arnette will compete for a starting role immediately in Las Vegas. He was taken as the Raiders second first-round pick at No. 19 overall after the team selected Alabama speedster WR Henry Ruggs III with the No. 12 overall pick.
The Las Vegas Raiders have selected cornerback Damon Arnette with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Many will consider this a reach for Las Vegas but cornerback has been a longtime weakness for this franchise and it was clearly time to address it. GM Mike Mayock showed last year with the selection of Clelin Ferrell that he wasn’t afraid to be bold. The former Ohio State defensive back plays aggressively, which is certainly appealing to coach Jon Gruden.
