Danny Amendola a 'lock' to make Patriots' roster?

New England Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss believes wide receiver Danny Amendola is a "lock" to make the final 53-man roster for 2017.

Fantasy Impact

Accompanying Amendola are Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, Brandin Cooks and Matthew Slater as "locks" to make New England's crowded wide receiver depth chart for 2017 with Andrew Hawkins the likely odd man out. Coming off of a 2016 season in which he produced a 23-243-4 stat line while the only appearing in 12 games, Amendola is nothing more than a role player in the Patriots' offense in 2017 and moving forward. He'll hold little to no fantasy value in the upcoming season.

Danny Amendola poised to take pay cut to remain with Patriots

ESPN's Mike Reiss believes that it is a "certainty" that the New England Patriots do not retain wide receiver Danny Amendola under his current deal in which he is due a $6 million base salary in 2017.

Fantasy Impact

Amendola has been a disappointment since signing with the Patriots in 2013. He's never accumulated more than 65 receptions for 648 yards and three touchdowns in a single season with New England, a feat he accomplished in 2015. Amendola, who has agreed to pay cuts in each of the past two seasons, will likely be asked to take another pay cut this offseason if he intends to remain with the team. If he declines, he'll likely be granted his outright release, a scenario that is not expected to occur. The 31-year-old wideout is coming off of a 2016 campaign in which he only produced a 23-243-4 stat line in 12 games. It was his worst statistical season since 2011.

Danny Amendola makes big catches to help Patriots to comeback win

Danny Amendola caught eight of 11 targets for 78 yards and one touchdown in the Patriots' 34-28 Super Bowl 51 overtime victory over the Falcons. He also caught the game-tying two-point conversion.

Fantasy Impact

Amendola has been an afterthought in the Patriots passing game all season. But the veteran WR stepped up in a big way making some key catches and finished second on the team in receptions. Look for Amendola to come back to the Patriots in 2017 but at a reduced salary. He will still be the fourth or fifth option and not fantasy relevant.

Danny Amendola catches two passes in win on Sunday

Danny Amendola caught two passes for twelve yards in the Patriots' AFC Championship Game win over the Steelers.

Fantasy Impact

With so many weapons in the Patriots offense, Amendola tends to be an afterthought. He is fourth on the WR depth chart and while he does not see the volume he does make some key catches in critical situations. Do not be surprised if he makes a key catch in the Super Bowl.

Danny Amendola rushes for 15 yards in Divisional Round win

Danny Amendola did not catch a pass on two targets and rushed once for 15 yards in the Patriots' Divisional Round win over the Texans.

Fantasy Impact

Amendola was finally back on the field after being out with an injury that occurred in Week 13. With fellow wide receivers Malcolm Mitchell and Chris Hogan banged up Amendola could see an expanded role in the AFC Championship game.
