Filling in place of injured T.J Ward, safety David Bruton came up big for the Broncos in their 17-3 win over the Chargers. Bruton led all players with 12 total tackles Sunday pushing his season total to 42. Bruton may be needed to repeat his performance next week against the Raiders.
The next man up approach has worked fairly well for Denver this year and Bruton's performance Sunday demonstrates that. Look for Bruton to rack up the tackles again next week.
The Broncos improved to 6-0 Sunday afternoon by beating the Browns 26-23 in OT. Bruton came up clutch for the Broncos, stopping the Browns from a game winning score by intercepting quarterback Josh McCown. The interception set the game up to go into overtime and eventually lead Denver to victory. It was Bruton's third career interception and second of the season.
This was a big moment for Bruton and the Broncos team allowing the team to continue to stay perfect. The offense struggeled mightily at times but the defense was there to keep Denver in the game. Bruton is not on the field enough to be counted on in defensive fantasy leagues.
