Week 3 Outlook
The NFL has announced that it has "no plans to move the start of the league year."
There were reportedly meetings being held to discuss closing team facilities given the current pandemic. However, the NFL apparently has no plans on delaying the start of the new year. This would indicate that free agency will start as planned. It still remains to be seen if this will be the case and if there will be further impact, including to the 2020 NFL Draft.
Multiple NFL teams are discussing shutting down their training facilities due to the Coronavirus, according to ESPN.
If this should happen, ESPN notes that it would be "challenging at best" to start the new league year next week. Of course, players and personnel have more pressing things to consider than the new league year, but this will potentially have ramifications on events such as free agency and the NFL Draft.
The Texans have signed wide receiver DeAndre Carter to a one-year contract extension.
Carter was the team's primary punt and kick returner, but he did see some action with absences to Will Fuller and Keke Coutee. While he could pop onto the streaming radar if injuries again plague the team's receiving corps, he's not expected to enter the season with fantasy relevance.
DeAndre Carter caught his only target for 17 yards on Sunday as the Texans lost to the Chiefs by a 51-31 score in Divisional Round action.
With Will Fuller back in the lineup, Carter struggled to see any passes on Sunday. The veteran receiver finished the regular season with just 11 catches and made two more in the playoffs. Carter will have to fight in the preseason to keep on the roster in 2020.
DeAndre Carter caught one pass on two targets for five yards on Saturday as the Texans defeated the Bills in overtime in their Wild Card win by a 22-19 score.
Carter looked like he would see a fair amount of targets with Will Fuller out with an injury but the veteran wide receiver was not part of the passing game at all. It is doubtful that Carter will have much of an impact in the Divisional Round when the team faces either the Chiefs or Ravens.
