Dee Milliner
CB -
2024 Outlook
Former first-round cornerback Dee Milliner will miss at least the first eight weeks of the new NFL season after the New York Jets placed him on short-term injured reserve. The player underwent wrist surgery this preseason - the latest in a long line. The team was awarded ex-Seattle safety Ronald Martin from waivers in Milliner's place.
Fantasy Impact
Milliner already had the task to even make the cut, let alone start for the Jets. But this injury does set him back even further. Due to his injury proneness, he is unlikely to see the field much in 2015, and so isn't really a fantasy prospect at any level.
Former first-round draft pick Dee Milliner will miss six to eight weeks after having surgery to correct a wrist injury sustained in Thursday's practice. The injury is yet another setback in the cornerback's career, after coming back from a season-ending Achilles' tear that he picked up at the beginning of the 2014 season.
Fantasy Impact
With a new influx of defensive backs, Dee Milliner was relegated to competing for a place on the roster, rather than a starting role. Even so, this surely limits his fantasy potential, and his injury record shows that he can't be trusted to perform over long stretches.
Former New York Jets first round selection Dee Milliner will have to 'compete for a position on the roster like everyone else', according to the team's new defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers.
Fantasy Impact
Although Kacy Rodgers' words may not sound too encouraging for Dee Milliner and his supporters, Rodgers also acknowledged that the Alabama product is a former top-ten pick and 'has a lot of ability'. He may see some role in the team this season if he does return to 100 percent following a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 2 last season and makes the roster cut, but don't expect him to make much of a fantasy contribution with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie ahead of him for the outside cornerback spots.
In a press conference after Sunday's loss to the Broncos, Jets coach Rex Ryan said that Dee Milliner has an Achilles injury.
Fantasy Impact
When asked about the type of injury Ryan answered immediately, and when asked if he would be out a long time he responded, "I guess so." Ryan's tone could lead one to believe that it is a season ending injury, though no official word has come from the organization. Losing Milliner for the rest of the season could be the final nail in the coffin for the 1-5 Jets.
New York Jets cornerback Dee Milliner left Sunday's game against the Broncos with an 'ankle injury' - according to NFL sideline reporter Kimberley Jones - and was unable to return. He sustained the injury attempting to block a field goal.
Fantasy Impact
Milliner has already dealt with numerous health issues in his short tenure as a Jet, and this could be another one to add to the list. If it is as serious as it looked, then Milliner could be sidelined for a number of weeks.
