Week 5 Outlook
Availability
Derrick Shelby will replace Cameron Wake (IR) at defensive end. Shelby played both tackle and end last season for the Dolphins. “Shelby is one of those guys who’s fundamentally sound,†interim coach Dan Campbell said. “He’s an explosive athlete. He’s not the speed rusher that Cam is, but he’s going to go in there and do a nice job for us.†Shelby will become an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
Fantasy Impact
Derrick Shelby is not a speed rusher like Cameron Wake. That would best describe Chris McCain who will now be part of the rotation. Shelby often played first and second down to help spell Wake. With Wake gone for the season, the Dolphins' D/ST value takes a hit. That's not really saying much, as the fantasy value finally rose above water just the last two weeks.
The Dolphins have brought back restricted free agent Derrick Shelby for one more year, signing him to a $2.35 million contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
Fantasy Impact
Shelby played both tackle and end last season, and will probably once again be part of a rotation as the Dolphins ran multiple packages last year featuring 4-3, 3-4 and 5-2 alignments. 2014 statline: 26 tackles, three sacks, and one interception.
