RB - JAC
Week 8 Outlook
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Devine Ozigbo has been activated from IR on Saturday. The second-year pro will make his season debut after missing all six of the Jaguars' games this season.
Ozigbo received high praise in training camp before sustaining a hamstring injury that left him sidelined for the first six weeks of the season. It's too early to tell whether Ozigbo's return will impact James Robinsons' three-down back role, so fantasy managers should not overreact with Ozigbo's activation from Injured Reserve. However, if Ozigbo is available in dynasty leagues, he should be rostered due to the lack of depth behind James Robinson.
Jaguars RB Devine Ozigbo has been designated to return from IR and will begin practicing with the team this week.
Ozigbo hasn’t yet practiced with the team this season, but he’ll begin putting in reps this week as he has been designated to return from IR, meaning the Jaguars have 21 days to activate him and place him on the 53-man roster. It’s unlikely he plays in Week 6 as he returns from a hamstring injury, but he could find his way into the rotation as early as Week 7. He likely won’t eat into James Robinson’s touches, but we could see Ozigbo pick up some of Chris Thompson’s passing-down snaps moving forward.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed RB Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) on the reserve/injured list.
The Jaguars signed former Buccaneers RB Dare Ogunbowale in a subsequent move. The Jags will roll with just James Robinson, Chris Thompson, and the newly-acquired Ogunbowale for Week 1 against the Colts. Ozigbo will be out at least three weeks.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Devine Ozigbo missed Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring injury.
Devine Ozigbo was expected to receive some early-down carries behind presumptive ‘starter’ James Robinson, but this hamstring injury may throw a wrench in those plans. Robinson reportedly impressed coaches enough to be listed as the starter on the depth chart, and there has also been talk that his emergence as a UDFA helped to seal the decision to release Leonard Fournette. Expectations should be tempered for Week 1, but Robinson could cement his role as the lead back if Ozigbo ends up missing game action.
Jaguars coach Doug Marrone says both Devine Ozigbo and James Robinson are capable of playing all three downs.
It was previously reported that Ozigbo could receive "decent run" in Week 1 with Ryquell Armstead missing a lot of practices throughout training camp. It remains to be seen how Jacksonville's RB situation will shake out as Chris Thompson is certainly going to be involved on passing downs. Ozigbo is worth a late-round flyer in fantasy drafts but ultimately this is shaping up as a backfield to avoid altogether.
