De'Vondre Campbell Sr.
LB - San Francisco 49ers - Suspended
This Week Outlook
Availability
San Francisco 49ers LB De'Vondre Campbell Sr. has been internally suspended by the team for "conduct detrimental to the team," stemming from an incident in Week 15's Thursday Night Football game.
Fantasy Impact
After Campbell exited Thursday's game early, leaving for the locker room in the second half after refusing to enter the game, the veteran linebacker received public backlash from the media, fans, and teammates. As a result, a suspension was considered likely, if not Campbell being cut outright. It's possible S.F. opted for a suspension in order to potentially recoup assets by filing to waive some of its payment on Campbell's deal, but regardless of the reasoning, Campbell's season appears to be over -- as is likely his career as a Niner.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters LB De’Vondre Campbell is not expected to play for the 49ers again this season.
Fantasy Impact
It came out following Thursday's game that Campbell was not willing to enter the game again in the second half.
The Green Bay Packers plan to release LB De'Vondre Campbell on Wednesday at the start of the new league year.
Fantasy Impact
The Packers will create $10.57 million in cap space with Campbell's release, an All-Pro LB in 2021. Since his star season, his first with Green Bay after stints with Arizona and Atlanta, Campbell's play has dipped. He went from 146 tackles in 16 games to 75 tackles in 11 games and an 85.0 PFF defensive grade (82.2 coverage) to 65.1 (59.9).
De'Vondre Campbell did not practice on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
It is not clear what specific injury Campbell is dealing with. This will be something to monitor when the injury report officially comes out.
De’Vondre Campbell (shoulder) is inactive for the Green Bay Packers ahead of their Thanksgiving day Week 12 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Impact
Campbell will join Rudy Ford (biceps) and Jaire Alexander (shoulder) out of the lineup for a very shorthanded Green Bay defense against a strong Detroit offensive attack in what could be a big day for the likes of Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, and Jahmyr Gibbs Thanksgiving day.
