McBride was a seventh-round pick in this year's draft coming off of a great season at UAB, but he wasn't able to lock down a roster spot and the Vikings are now waiving him. He seems like a prime candidate to come back on the practice squad, assuming he passes through waivers unclaimed. This move locks in Ty Chandler as the Vikings RB2 and also probably means that Kene Nwangwu will cycle in periodically.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, UAB RB DeWayne McBride will not participate in combine drills due to a hamstring injury.

McBride was the leading rusher in all of college football but suffered a hamstring injury during training that will hold him out from the NFL Combine. He will, however, continue to rehab so he can participate in his pro day on March 22, according to Pelissero. McBride is a strong and quick runner and could post good testing numbers when healthy.
