WR - PIT
Week 2 Outlook
Steelers' wide receiver Diontae Johnson returned to practice as a full participant on Thursday. This comes after Johnson registered as a 'DNP' during Wednesday's practice.
Johnson seemed to have a great rapport with QB Ben Roethlisberger on Monday night against the Giants, seeing ten targets and hauling in six receptions for 57 yards. Johnson will likely matchup against Broncos' slot cornerback Bryce Callahan or a pair of rookie cornerbacks after A.J. Bouye was sent to IR earlier this week. Johnson should be locked into your lineups as a WR3/Flex option with WR2 upside.
Steelers wideout Dionte Johnson did not practice on Wednesday due to a toe injury.
Coming off a Monday night game, this is likely just a day-off for the second-year player. Johnson was on the Steelers injury report ahead of Week 1 with a foot injury and now lands on the Week 2 injury report with a toe issue. He looked good against the Giants despite an early fumble on a punt return, converting 10 targets into six receptions for 57 yards. His 10 targets accounted for 32% of the Steelers target shares, which should bode well for his outlook going forward. There's been no indication that fantasy owners should be concerned about him missing Week 2.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught 6-of-10 targets for 57 yards in a 26-16 win over the Giants in Week 1.
Johnson had a quiet first half but got more involved in the second half. While he didn't find the end zone, his 10 targets led the team and were four more than JuJu Smith-Schuster saw. Johnson will be a WR3 in Week 2 against Denver.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is active for Monday Night Football against the New York Giants.
Diontae was left off the injury report on Saturday, so this comes as no surprise. Johnson is expected to serve as the team's number two receiver this season, while James Washington battles rookie Chase Claypool for snaps in three wide receiver sets. Diontae could have a big game against a Giants secondary that was forced to release number two corner Deandre Baker. James Bradberry is expected to travel with JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (foot) has now logged two straight practices after a Thursday-DNP and has been removed from the injury report for Week 1.
Johnson is good to go for the Steelers’ Week 1 matchup vs. the Giants. It’s a good matchup for the Pittsburgh passing offense, as the Giants struggled to defend the pass a season ago. Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster should both have a field day in Week 1.
