WR - NYJ
Week 7 Outlook
According to Ian Rapoport, the Jets are planning to sign FA WR Donte Moncrief once he passes through his COVID-19 protocols.
The Jets have been in dire need for some help at receiver after losing Vyncint Smith to core muscle surgery and with rookie Denzel Mims still not practicing due to a hamstring issue. Moncrief, along with Chris Hogan, should provide some much needed depth for Sam Darnold to begin the year. The Jets will be Moncrief's third team in the last year and he will likely remain irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
According to a source, the Jets are expected to work out free agent receiver Donte Moncrief sometime this week.
Moncrief will be put through a COVID-19 screening with the hopes of working out for the team at some point this week. The Jets officially signed Chris Hogan on Wednesday and it appears they are looking to add some more depth with Denzel Mims (hamstring) and Vyncint Smith (core muscle) both banged up. The 27-year-old receiver has served stints with the Colts, Jaguars, Panthers and Steelers and was a popular late-round selection in fantasy a year ago before an underwhelming start to the season led to his release.
The 49ers worked out a trio of wide receivers including Donte Moncrief, J.J. Nelson, and Tavon Austin.
San Francisco lost Travis Benjamin after he opted out so they're likely looking to bring in some depth. Brandon Aiyuk could operate as the team's number one receiver as a rookie.
The Carolina Panthers have claimed wide receiver Donte Moncrief.
Moncrief's addition should be a boost for a wide receiver room that counts journeyman Jarius Wright as their number three receiver. Expectations should be tempered for Moncrief, who simply has not been able to live up to his immense potential. Barring an injury, Moncrief should not be counted on for anything more than bench depth going forward.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief caught 1-of-2 targets for 11 yards in a 24-17 win over the Chargers in Week 6.
Moncrief got his first game action since Week 2, thanks to the James Washington injury. The veteran wideout now has four catches for 18 yards on the season. The Steelers take on the Dolphins in Week 8 after their bye.
