RB - ARI - OUT
Week 17 Outlook
Cardinals RB Eno Benjamin is inactive for Week 9 against the Dolphins.
Chase Edmonds is a legit RB1 with Kenyan Drake (ankle) not playing. DJ Foster will be the backup against Miami.
Eno Benjamin will not play in Sunday's game against the Jets.
Benjamin was a talented college running back that the Cardinals took in the seventh round of this year's draft. He made the final roster but has yet to be active for a game yet this season. Expect Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds to split backfield duties as they have all season.
According to Arizona Cardinals Writer Kyle Odegard, the Cardinals only kept three running backs and Eno Benjamin earned the final spot.
A seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Benjamin makes the 53-man roster and will be the third-string running back behind Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds. Benjamin is a couple of injuries away from getting a real opportunity but with Drake's long-term deal still not in place, there's a chance he'll get a shot at playing time by next season. Benjamin should not be rostered in redraft formats but is a savvy dynasty stash.
Seventh-round pick rookie RB Eno Benjamin has impressed Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury in practice thus far and is not worried about being cut ahead of the looming decisions teams have to make to get down to a 53-man roster.
Benjamin has been called a “free spirit” by Kingsbury, but his personality alone won’t get him a spot on the roster. Coach has been impressed early on with his vision: "He has a knack for finding the hole, there's no doubt," Kingsbury said. "He definitely has a feel for the run game, and that's exciting to see where he can take this thing. He has to find a role in and contribute on special teams, and he knows that, but we like what we've seen so far." The depth chart behind starter Kenyan Drake is relatively thin, with just Chase Edmonds solidified as the backup, so Benjamin could easily find himself occupying the No. 3 RB job for the Cardinals heading into the season. He’s a dynasty stash for sure, but probably undraftable in redraft leagues at this point.
The Arizona Cardinals have selected running back Eno Benjamin with the No. 222 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Arizona State product is staying in-state after being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 222nd overall pick. In 2018, Benjamin set the ASU school record for rushing yards in a season with 1,642. He’s got both straight-line speed and lateral quickness and has great hands for a running back. Benjamin has drawn comparisons to Cincinnati RB Giovani Bernard and enters into a great situation in Arizona with RB Kenyan Drake currently on a one-year deal. He should get some opportunities in passing-down situations for the Cardinals and is worth a look in re-draft leagues as a handcuff to Drake and in dynasty leagues as a RB3.
