Week 13 Outlook
San Francisco DE Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah suffered a torn bicep Sunday against the Eagles that will require season-ending surgery.
Ansah's stint with the 49ers was short-lived. He signed a 1-year deal worth $3M just a couple of weeks ago after DEs Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas suffered season-ending injuries. The bad news keeps coming for the San Francisco D/ST, but a Week 5 home game against the Dolphins should keep them a viable fantasy option.
Veteran DE Ziggy Ansah is close to finalizing a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
Ansah is set to replace 49ers' star defensive end Nick Bosa after he tore his ACL in their win against the Jets on Sunday. Ansah totaled just 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 11 games during his 2019 campaign with Seattle.
The 49ers are flying free agent DE Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah to the East Coast for a meeting, and the expectation is that he is going to sign with them.
This is the third time the 49ers have had Ansah in for a visit, and he left the previous two meetings without a contract. However, there is more optimism on a deal this time as the expectation is that he signs with them after going through COVID testing. San Francisco had a rough outing Sunday against the Jets, losing starting DE Nick Bosa to what is assumed to be a torn ACL. Ansah will be expected to step in and contribute right away.
After meeting with the 49ers on Tuesday, free agent pass-rusher Ezekiel Ansah will leave without a deal as the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
Ansah last appeared in 11 games for the Seahawks in 2019, recording only 2.5 sacks. The 31-year-old defensive end will continue to wait for the right opportunity to latch on with a team at some point this season.
Ezekiel Ansah, a top free agent pass-rusher, has drawn more interest from the 49ers who attempted to sign him about a month ago.
Ansah had worked out with the 49er's and rejected an offer recently, but Ian Rapoport is reporting that it appears that the sides are a bit closer on a deal now, with Ansah in San Fransisco and going through COVID-19 testing. Ansah would be a huge addition to an already elite pass-rushing team. The 49er's are a top DST option right now and Ansah's presence would only elevate them further.
