G.J. Kinne catches two passes versus Packers

G.J. Kinne has been working out at wide receiver in attempts to make the Eagles' roster. He hasn't shown much in preseason, but caught a couple of passes in the Eagles 39-26 win over the Packers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Kinne has been a long shot to make the team and could end up on the practice squad again this season. The Eagles wont keep four quarterbacks and have too much depth at receiver. Kinne likely will have little to no fantasy value this season.

Is G.J. Kinne the next Julian Edelman?

Chip Kelly has been impressed with G.J. Kinne during spring practises, ever since Kinne moved from quarterback to wide receiver, according to Paul Domowitch. Domowitch also pointed out the parallel between the Patriots turning a 7th round QB called Julian Edelman into one of the best receiving options on the current Super Bowl champions.

Fantasy Impact

Kinne is something of a fan favourite in Philadelphia, and the idea of his making the roster sits very well in a city that loves a million to one shot coming off (See Vince Papale and Rocky for details). Even if he does make the 53, it's hard to imagine him becoming Edelman this year, thus limiting his fantasy appeal, but don't we all love an underdog?

Eagles QB G.J. Kinne makes switch to WR

During his news conference today, Chip Kelly announced that G.J. Kinne is now officially a wide receiver, after entering the NFL in 2012 as a quarterback.

Fantasy Impact

The Eagles QB meeting room gets a bit roomier with this news. Kinne had been a long shot to make the team as a third QB, so this change of position is an attempt to prolong his stint with the Eagles and in the NFL as a whole. Despite the offensive creativity of Kelly, it would be beyond staggering if Kinne had any fantasy appeal as a receiver. His best bet is on special teams.
