Week 17 Outlook
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived defensive end Jacquies Smith, per ESPN.
DE Smith was at one time a "hot" add for fantasy in IDP leagues. At this point, if owners still have him rostered it may be time to let him go. He may have an opportunity elsewhere if signed. But at this point, no one should be depending on that to happen.
DE Jacquies Smith (knee) inactive vs. Chicago, likely to give the knee more time.
May mean only a three-man rotation of Robert Ayers, William Gholston, and Noah Spence.
Jacquies Smith (knee) was spotted at practice and participating, which was an indication of his activation.
Smith may be in some type of four-way rotation at this point with a crowded defensive end group with Robert Ayers, William Gholston, and Noah Spence. This could end up being a situation to avoid.
After being cut by the Bills, Jacquies Smith has been productive in Tampa Bay earning him praise from Lovie Smith. On Sunday, he added another 2 tackles, 2 assists and an assisted sack to his season.
It will be important for the Bucs' success that Jacquies Smith continues his impressive development. The Bucs desperately need better pass rushers so Smith's specialty fits in nicely. However, it would not be a surprise if the Bucs spent a draft pick on a pass rusher.
