LB - New England Patriots
According to Phil Perry, LB Jahlani Tavai "went down with what seemed to be a serious lower-body injury" during Thursday's training camp session.
Jahlani Tavai suffered the injury during the team's 11-on-11 segment of practice and was down "for a few minutes" before being helped off the field. If Tavai is forced to miss an extended period of time, it will be a big loss for the Patriots as head coach Bill Belichick recently said that the fourth year LB would be used in a "four-down role" according to Doug Kyed. The team is yet to give a formal update on the situation.
Jahlani Tavai ended up with 11 tackles (five solo) during Sunday’s 20-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Tavai has hit 50 tackles through Week 14 of his rookie season. He is a great stash in deeper IDP dynasty leagues.
Jahlani Tavai finished Sunday’s win over the Chargers with nine total tackles (six solo) and a forced fumble.
Tavai is now tied for third on the team in tackles with 11 through two games played. He is worth stashing in IDP dynasty leagues.
Jahlani Tavai finished his first NFL regular season game with three total tackles and a sack.
Tavai is an excellent stash in IDP dynasty leagues and in deeper IDP formats. Sunday’s game against the Cardinals was a great start to his professional career.
With the 43rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected Hawaii linebacker Jahlani Tavai.
Tavai was ranked number 96 by NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, but that could be in part to an arrest and a shoulder injury during his senior season at Hawaii. On the field, he has NFL size at 6'2", 250 pounds and has the upside of a three-down linebacker. While number 43 is a bit earlier than many of his pre-draft rankings, the Lions clearly liked him enough to take him now and not risk losing him.
