The Saints have signed QB Jake Luton to their 53-man roster.

This is a clear sign that the team expects to be without Derek Carr (shoulder) for at least this week. Luton will add depth behind expected starter Jameis Winston. The 27-year-old has appeared in three games in his career, registering a 54.5 completion percentage, two touchdowns, and six interceptions in three games with the Jaguars in 2020.

Gardner Minshew is expected to miss another week with a thumb injury, and at this point, it's unclear if he will get the job back when he's healthy. Luton was solid in Sunday's loss to the Texans, completing 26 of 38 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown, and rushing for another. Luton could potentially have value in Super-FLEX leagues, but with a healthy Minshew on the horizon, it's hard to predict moving forward.
