Jalen Carter
DT - Philadelphia Eagles
2024 Outlook
The Philadelphia Eagles are ruling out rookie DL Jalen Carter (ankle) against the New York Jets in Week 6.
Fantasy Impact
Carter has been dominant even as a rookie, recording two forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks and 11 pressures in five games. The Eagles have one of the deepest pass-rushing rooms, meaning they can manage without Carter, though his absence will be notable, as he is already well on his way to a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year-caliber season.
Jalen Carter (ankle) is not expected to play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Fantasy Impact
Carter suffered a sprained ankle in practice this week and will likely have to miss Sunday's game as a result. The team doesn't consider it to be a serious issue, however, and he should be back sometime next week. The rookie has been great so far this season and his absence is less than ideal for the Eagles' defense in Week 6.
According to Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal, rookie DT Jalen Carter has impressed in camp, including a play where he shed a double team by pushing both blockers over.
Fantasy Impact
Despite his drop in the 2023 NFL Draft, Carter was regarded as one of the best, if not the best, player in this year’s rookie class. Carter has reportedly impressed in camp so far, looking the part of a pro and showing off his strength and power. Carter will have little pressure on him as a rookie, playing on one of the best defensive lines in the league, but he told reporters his goal is “defensive rookie of the year.”
Jalen Carter reportedly "looked the part" in drills for defensive lineman in OTAs.
Fantasy Impact
Carter fell to No. 9 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft where the Eagles traded up for him. He adds to what was already a super strong defensive line for Philadelphia.
Jalen Carter and the Eagles have agreed to a four year, $21 million fully-guaranteed contract.
Fantasy Impact
Carter becomes the first rookie first-round pick to land a contract. Carter was drafted ninth overall by the Eagles and arguably is a steal at that pick. The Eagles’ defensive line is likely going to produce a lot of sacks and will benefit from the addition of the rookie Carter.
