Jameson Williams
WR - DET
2022 Outlook
Per Chris Burke, Lions' head coach Dan Campbell is hopeful but doesn't see Jameson Williams being ready for the start of training camp.
Fantasy Impact
Williams is a special talent with plenty of tantalizing unrealized upside. Prior to tearing his ACL in the national championship game on January 10, the Alabama wide receiver had recorded seven games with at least 123 receiving yards in the regular season. If the 21-year-old is healthy come kickoff, he is easily the most talented wide receiver on the Lions' roster.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Detroit Lions and former Alabama WR Jameson Williams have agreed to terms on a four year, fully guaranteed contract.
Fantasy Impact
After struggling to find consistent playing time in Ohio State’s crowded WR room, Williams transferred to Alabama in 2021 and exploded onto the national scene. Throw on Williams’ highlight clips and it doesn’t take long to see that he has a gear that not many people on the planet can get to. He consistently ran past and pulled away from SEC defenders to the tune of 1,561 receiving yards and 15 TDs while averaging 20.0 yards per reception last season. Williams and his field stretching skill set compliments the Lions offense well with Amon Ra St. Brown and T.J. Hockenson primarily working close to the line of scrimmage. Williams tore his ACL in the College Football National Championship Game, but early reports indicate that he may be ready to play at the start of the season.
The Detroit Lions have selected WR Jameson Williams with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Detroit Lions have selected wide receiver Jameson Williams with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact
The Detroit Lions land their new number one receiver in Jameson Williams. Williams may have been the first receiver off the board if not for the late season injury and will be a massive boost for the Lions offense. Detroit has added an electric receiver that can win all over the field and should pair well with Amon-Ra St. Brown, T.J. Hockenson, and D'Andre Swift. Detroit went all in to acquire their new playmaker, surrendering picks 32. 34, and 66 to the Commanders for Jameson Williams and the 46th overall pick. Williams could flirt with WR2 value in his first full season (2023) but will be nothing more than a high upside injury stash for redraft leagues.
Jameson Williams arrived in Houston last night for a visit with the team today.
Fantasy Impact
The 6'2", 179-pound junior is considered one of the top prospects in the draft. He has a NextGen rating of 6.48 and is thought of by scouts as being explosive and able to get good separation. He continues to recover from an ACL tear, but that injury is not expected to impact much in terms of draft.
