RB - SF - IR
Week 6 Outlook
The 49ers have ruled out running back JaMycal Hasty (ankle) for their Week 3 contest against the Packers.
Hasty did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, so it's no surprise that he's out. With Raheem Mostert on the IR, Elijah Mitchell listed as doubtful, and Hasty inactive, the 49ers will likely approach Sunday's game with a heavy dose of rookie Trey Sermon. Meanwhile, Trenton Cannon, Jacques Patrick, and Kerryon Johnson are all candidates to fill depth roles.
49ers RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) was sidelined during Wednesday's practice.
Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) was also sidelined while Trey Sermon (concussion) was "limited." Hasty is considered week-to-week for now.
Per Ian Rapoport, JaMycal Hasty is week-to-week after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Eagles on Sunday.
After injuring his ankle on Sunday, an MRI revealed that the 49ers backup RB was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain leaving him week-to-week. With Raheem Mostert out for the season, Hasty banged up, and Trey Sermon suffering a concussion, the 49ers are thin at RB. The team worked out veteran T.J. Yeldon on Monday and the plan is to move forward with Elijah Mitchell as the starter.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan says RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) will be out "for a while."
Meanwhile, Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is day-to-day and Trey Sermon is in the concussion protocol. San Francisco brought in Lamar Miller and Duke Johnson for visits on Monday. Monitoring the practice reports will be critical this week, but right now Mitchell appears to be the healthiest option.
San Francisco 49er's running back JaMycal Hasty picked up 38 rushing yards on five carries while adding four receptions for 21 yards in Sunday's 17-11 win over the Eagles.
Hasty made the most of his touches on Sunday, outgaining Elijah Mitchell in total yards, 59 to 53, on 12 fewer touches. At one point Mitchell was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury but later returned. Unfortunately for San Francisco, Hasty injured his ankle and Trey Sermon also sustained a head injury forcing both players to leave the game. The team should provide updates on the aforementioned backs soon.
